History or Quick Intro of Asia Cup
The first Asia Cup series was played 30 years ago in 1984 at Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates where the council’s office were based (until) 1995.In the beginning the ACC Asia Cup was a men’s One Day International cricket match of 50/50 overs but now it become Twenty20 International cricket tournament. The ACC (Asian Cricket Council) has announced that the tournament will be held biennially from 2008 onwards and ICC has ruled that all games played in the Asia Cup have official ODI status.

Asia Cup Series / Season 1 Winner Team – India (Year 1984)
The first edition of the Asia Cup was held in 1984 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and it was round-robin tournament between India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The first match was played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However the final match was played between India Vs Sri Lanka and India becomes the first emerge winner of asia cup series 1 in 1984. In the first series of Asia Cup India won 2 matches while Sri Lanka becomes the runner up in the tournament with a single victory over Pakistan and the Pakistan team went home without winning any match in first season of Asia Cup.
Asia Cup Series / Season 2 Winner Team – Sri Lanka (Year 1986)
The second season of Asia Cup was hosted by former runner up team Sri Lanka. This was the first multi-national cricket series. India pulled out of the tournament due to soured cricketing relations with Sri Lanka after a controversial series in Sri Lanka the previous year. It was the first time while Bangladesh participated in Asia Cup and the final match was played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan where Sri Lanka beats Pakistan by 5 wickets and become the emerge winner of Asia Cup series 2 in 1986. Asia Cup Series / Season 3 Winner Team – India (Year 1988)
The third season of Asia cup was hosted in Bangladesh in 1988 the first multi-national cricket tournament was held in Bangladesh. Final match was played between India and Sri Lanka once again at Dhaka in which India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets and won the 3rd series of Asia Cup the final match score was as follows:
Sri Lanka – 176 all out (43.5 overs)
India – 180/4 (37.1 overs)
Asia Cup Series / Season 4 Winner Team – India (Year 1990-91)
The fourth season of Asia Cup series was hosted by India. Pakistan had pulled out of the tournament due to strained political relations with India. India retained the Asia Cup defeating Sri Lanka in the final match which was played at Eden Garden of Kolkata and the score was as follows:

The fifth season of Asia cup is back to UAE, Sharjah. It was the 7th season of Asia Cup and hosted by Bangladesh second time in 2000. Pakistan and Sri Lanka qualify for the final match and India have won only 1 match against Bangladesh and could not qualify for the final match first time. The final match was played at Dhaka between Sri Lanka and Pakistan where Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 39 runs the final match score are as follows:

The 8th season of Asia Cup was schedule in 2004 and took place in Sri Lanka. It was the first time while there was a change in the tournament format as 2 new teams included in it UAE and Hong Kong and game was divided in 3 stages – Group Stage, Super Fours and Final. The group was split in 3 teams each group total 2 groups were there. Bangladesh had the distinction of reaching the second stage in a major tournament for the first time, but played poorly in the Super Fours and got eliminated. India and Sri Lanka once again qualify for the final match in which Sri Lanka defeated India by 25 runs.

Asia Cup Series / Season 9 Winner Team – Sri Lanka (Year 2008)
The 2004 format was retained in the 9th edition on Asia Cup which was hosted by Pakistan. Once again Sri Lanka and India reach on the top and played final match which was held on 6th July 2008. The final match was played at Karachi where Sri Lanka once again defeated India by 100 runs and become the emerge winner of Asia Cup series 9. Sri Lanka’s new mystery spinner, Ajantha Mendis, took 6/13 bowling Sri Lanka to a 100 run victory. He also was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament the final score was as follows:

The 10th season of Asia Cup was held in Sri Lanka this time 2004 series format was changed as in this season only four test playing Asian nations featured and total 7 matches were played in all (including the final match). Once again Sri Lanka and India entered in the final match in this season India defeated Sri Lanka by 81 runs the final match was played at Dambulla and the score was as follows:

It was the 11th season of Asia Cup which was once again hosted by Bangladesh in 2012 the match was schedule from 11th March 2012 to 22nd March 2012. It was the first time in the history of Cricket while Bangladesh entered in the finale of Asia cup. The Bangladesh team defeated India and Sri Lanka team before entered the final match. The final match was played between Pakistan and Bangladesh and unfortunately Bangladesh loss this match 2 runs.
